General Surgeons

Contrary to what you might think, general surgeons are not medical practitioners that specialize in all areas of surgery.  General surgeons are defined as those surgeons who specialize in abdominal organs such as the intestines, stomach, pancreas, bile ducts, esophagus, colon, liver, gall bladder, and often the thyroid gland.

General surgeons perform a wide variety of procedures and treat a range of disorders.  General surgeons perform trauma surgery and must be able to initially deal with nearly any surgical emergency.

General surgeons also perform procedures related to breast cancer such as mastectomy.

When choosing a general surgeon, it’s important that you do your research to find a competent and trustworthy surgeon.
