Surgeon Education

Becoming a surgeon is not for the faint-hearted.  Aside from the inherent nature of surgical specialties, a surgeon’s education is no small task.

Most surgeons in the United States must first complete four years of undergraduate education.  After that, they complete four years in medical school.  Following medical school, most surgeons complete anywhere from four to eight years of residency and training to become specialists in a certain field.  They must pass state medical boards, and throughout their career must complete continuing education and strict ongoing requirements to keep their certifications and licensures up to date.  A surgeon education is challenging and takes many years.
